No wonder Microsoft held XP SP3 release back so damn long, exo.blog benchmarked it using the OfficeBench benchmark and an XP Pro install with SP3 applied actually shows a 10% speed increase over it’s existing SP2 install.

(Shorter bars better):

Microsoft Windows XP and Vista Benchmarked

That’s a pretty damning result following closely on the heals of Vista SP1 showing no performance improvements (another article) to one of the buggiest OS releases in recent history. Bravo Microsoft, for staying par for the course in the face of growing competition and a general exodus from your failure that is Vista while validating everyone’s concerns that your 6 year old operating system (XP) is still superior to anything you have put out in the Vista family.
