Nope - not interested - why should I be. They had their chance, and they blew it. People will have stuck with MONKEYSHITE because of inertia, now they can see that there's a fast, reliable alternative = MacOS X.

Just leave that shit behind.

I wonder how many other people have lost photos and or important docs because of M$? Don't even mention the backup word. If MonkeyOS was at all reliable there wouldn't be such a massive market for ghosting, back ups etc.....

BTW guys, for everyone that hates Windows XP -- have you guys played around with Windows 7 yet?

We did a really detailed tour of Windows 7, and while it totally feels Vista'ey, the performance (both execution performance as well as memory performance) is actually decent....

Like I said in the review though, if you HATE the visual paradigms in Vista, you'll still hate it, but if you just hated the bugs and performance, you might like it.

My whole system crashed and burned after SP3 installed itself. I had critical due dates on several projects and was unable to get anything to work. After hours of research that turned into a week of time I was able to go through a very lengthy process to recover some of my programs. A few could not be recovered.

Microsoft should be sued. Who is going to reimburse my time, not to mention I almost got fired and had to spend a week screwing around with this.

Microsoft is the worst. I ended up switching to a Mac and love it. It actually works every time I turn it on. It;s fast, inexpens0ive, capable of running several programs at the same time, no error messages or updates every fricking time I turn it on, and no viruses.

Wake up folks. Get away from Windows as fast as you can. Eventually you will pay the price. It's just a matter of time.

Vista wasn't selling, so M$ broke XP.

My inner cynic tells me that the best solution to shitty vista sales is a crappy service pack for XP - those that switch start saying "oh I never got any of those problems with Vista SP1, why are you still using that old broken XP", the word spreads and sales improve.

I don't usually subscribe to conspiracy theories - but I like this one :-)

About 2 weeks after my comp. automatically installed sp3, none of my usb ports worked. After searching the web long and hard I got a hint that it might be sp3. I deinstalled it and after a little while, my usb ports came back. (that took a couple days of trouble shooting). After a couple of weeks, I figured MS would have gotten the message and installed patches or whatever, so I downloaded SP3 again (I'm not THAT savvy, and I'm trying to do the right thing). A couple of weeks later, my computer crashes whenever I try to load video players. It won't even stabilize on the log in screen, it just keeps crashing. After another 5 days of trouble shooting (virus scrubs, registry fix purchases, physically dusting the inside of the machine, etc) and web surfing I get very little ideas on what it might be. Someone mentioned sp3 again, so I uninstalled it (it was either that or system restore to factory settings). A couple of days later, everything is working fine again.
I never really had a problem with MS before, but this is crazy. I don't know enough about what's in those service packs and automatic updates to evaluate every little component and manually choose what goes in and what doesn't, but it looks like I'll have to learn, 'cuz that's about it for letting the computer do it automatically in the middle of the night.

Well, spk3 has been giving me nothing but problems, i dont know if its the roundrobin effect of nvidia driver updates, not being timed with DX9.0c build updates or if its just SPK3, but i want to trash the whole thing. sadly, there is not place thats safe from this bullshit. If you think you can just pay more to mac and expect a superior product, i would be extremely sceptical if i were you... Sure, maybe if you dont want to have a multi thousand dollar scrapbook., then i immagine mac wouldnt be bad, but then, whynot 35 cents in glue and some cardboard?
This is ridiculus... and its all about $$$ "if you dont have some for us, fuck you , take this broken shit and die!"
/sigh
Whatever, maybe i can pay some more taxes and help get this whole RF identity tracking crap more deeply entrenched by paying my taxes like a good limming. BAH!
WTF
BURN!

After XP3 my machine no longer recognizes my external drives. I didn't realize it was MS issue until i purchased a new drive and had the same problem. Perhaps this was the idea from the start.

Those total tossers at Microsoft have completely f*cking screwed over Xbox 360 users. SP3 removed the ability to share media from Windows XP PCs - and there's no plan to fix it, apparently. Total shits, go f*ck yourself Microsoft.

So, here we go, I just downloaded SP3. Just for the sake of this article, as nothing was wrong with my previous version. Now, there is one plus that I have gotten from it. My Mercenaries 2, and SimCity Societies no longer freezes. Or just not as much, they usually do after about 10 minutes. But they haven't yet today. Other than that, I can't tell much of a difference. But then again, I am testing it like microsoft does, If it works just fine for a day. Sell it! People will buy it!

Well here is the thing on this, and I have to say it. From my point of view this article seems bias. No harm intended by the way, a lot of people don't like windows. But, in terms of gaming, Microsoft has everybody by the balls. Albeit as inefficient emulate this already erroneous software. And MAC, by all means is no better. Claiming MAC is better at stuff windows is made to do is like saying my light bulb is better because it doesn't fit in the socket. But it does have great strides in the art and photography fields. But it is still kinda indie. But yes, Microsoft does do some stupid crap, I just needed to correct some misconceptions that people make. But as a whole, if you want the safest, fastest, most reliable operating system. Use Ubuntu, or some form of Linux. You just won't be able to find much. It is like the PS3, more potential, yet there is just nothing for it. But also some more points for MAC, as editor put. Each MAC computer comes optimized with it's pre-existing hardware unlike windows. But I think still, in terms of adaptivity and reliability, Linus Torvald (Also a nobel prize winner) has out smarted Steve jobs and Bill Gates... Actually that is being disingenuous, Linux Torvald has out smarted Steve Jobs, and that only makes sense if you know how windows came to be.

And MAC, by all means is no better. Claiming MAC is better at stuff windows is made to do is like saying my light bulb is better because it doesn’t fit in the socket. You just won’t be able to find much. It is like the PS3, more potential, yet there is just nothing for it. But also some more points for MAC, as editor put. Each MAC computer comes optimized with it’s pre-existing hardware unlike windows. But I think still, in terms of adaptivity and reliability, Linus Torvald (Also a nobel prize winner) has out smarted Steve jobs and Bill Gates… Actually that is being disingenuous, Linux Torvald has out smarted Steve Jobs, and that only makes sense if you know how windows came to be.

Similar thing happened to me. I have been using XP Pro for a while now and my system just crashed. No Operating System Detected. And the boot disk will not even recognize my hard drive now. If this is some way of screwing up XP and making me go to Vista it is really going to make me go to Apple.

Bill, that conclusion of "Apple is looking better each year" I hear atleast once a month from my Windows friends, half have moved to Mac, and while it's not without it's own learning curve, the flawless hardware support and setup has been a big selling point for them.

I'm amazed at Microsoft's ability to consistently deliver short-sighted, destructive updates all in the name of... well I'm not sure what they think they are improving... security maybe?

The SP3 upgrade took out my d-link wireless driver. The upgrade was okay, took forever, but it did it's thing. Everything seems to work just fine, except I can't use the wireless home network.

I expect I'll have to spend at least a half day learning how to fix this (I did locate the SP3 drivers from d-link, and my first try at installing them was not successful -- not asking for help here... just venting and glad to learn "It's not JUST me").

I think it is evident to all that Microsoft, in its usual high-handed way is trying to force the move to Vista. In actuallity all it will do is entrench people to use XP sp2 or move to a Linux distro. I have used Ubuntu with great success but then I fell madly in love with Mandriva and PCLinuxOS a Mandriva derivitive. For those with old hardware then Vectorlinux is the standard. Open SuSe 11.0 is wonderful for newer machines. Of course an intermediary step is Knoppix 5. whatever it is up to now. Microsoft and it's unholy alliance with Intel is out in the open now. I use exclusively AMD cpu's and Cyrix cpu's. Fuck Intel and Micro$$oft. As a business owner AND a home user I rest easy in the sure knowledge that my friends and associates will follow in my path away from the monopolists. Think about this. The guy that invented the Internet gave it away for free. He took not one dime in profit. See what a success the internet became? But Bill Gates and that bitch wife of his are just rolling in it. The majority of home computers use Micro$$ofts products. When will Billy and Wendy rake in enough profit? When Linux and the open source community worldwide force them too. Personally I pirate all the micro$$oft programs I can. Similarly I pirate all the entertainment media I can Fuck them All
