If you haven’t seen it already, supposed pictures of the Windows 7 (Vienna) interface were leaked online yesterday along with a bit of information of “what we know so far”. Possible returns of WinFS, obviously a much more enhanced candy-esque UI is going to grace us and also a confirmation that consumers will be getting their hands on this version of Windows sometime in 2010 (with rumors pointing to a RTM of late ‘09).
Laurence Hartje followed up the findings with the following:
A Microsoft rep has pointed out that these are older versions of the concept renderings for Windows 7 and, as stated above, not likely what we’ll see when it’s released in 2010.
putting the kibosh on all the celebrating we were doing in anticipation for Microsoft’s next multi-billion-dollar-failure.
Still interesting to oogle the concept desktops, have a look:

This far out, I suppose it wouldn’t even matter if they were real or not I imagine… they are probably all mockups to some degree or another that will change drastically as Microsoft adjusts the UI to copy Apple, integrate obnoxious security controls and continue to kill usability in the name of red-tape.
