The first time I ever saw gameplay video for the upcoming Wanted game, it was the airplane level where the player curves absolutely every shot. After the first couple of shots it seemed to me that the game was going to be nothing but curving bullets and nothing more — overdoing the one gimmick that could have been awesome.
That being said, I was impressed with the design of the airplane itself. Well a new gameplay video just came out and I was pretty damn surprised how awesome this looked.
Specifically:
- Excellent cover system (very Gears of War-like which the developer has accredited as the “golden standard”, so expect something on par with that)
- Sweet cover-transition options and animations (duck and roll, knee-slide-over, dive, etc.)
- Excellent sound work
- Nice-ass close-combat/melee attacks (knee-to-the-face-kill anyone?)
- Robust Quick-Time-Events a-la the Bourne game or a God of War
- Gore
Give it a watch:

Maybe it’s the Matrix game that Shiney and Warner Bros never made? Who knows.
Thanks VE3D!

Wow. I was not a huge fan of the movie. It was ok, but this looks pretty fun.

Same here… it almost felt like a missed opportunity. Parts of it were plenty entertaining (the actor they got to play that agent in the opening scene was frigging awesome), but other parts of it were so freaking shallow or pointless (like finding out he’s manipulating the “threads” at the end) that I just didn’t care.
I wished the whole “thread” concept had been deeper than just a glorified TODO list and monks… monks aren’t cool enough anymore by themselves
