Ted Regulski just sent in this landscape-changing news from the game industry:
Activision, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) and Vivendi (Euronext Paris: VIV) today announced that they have signed a definitive agreement to combine Vivendi Games, Vivendi’s interactive entertainment business — which includes Blizzard Entertainment’s® World of Warcraft®, the world’s #1 multi-player online role-playing game franchise — with Activision
The new company will be known as “Activision Blizzard”… smart move keeping Blizzard in there, I didn’t even know what Vivendi did until I saw the “Blizzard” part of it in the announcement.
The entire deal was worth $18.9 billion and just fucked EA right up it’s own ass. Anyone see a EA + Ubisoft merger coming here soon to combat this?
