The snapshot above is of the new “Geltin” mockup theme that is being proposed as the default theme for Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) and all releases after that until the next LTS (long term support) release (I believe they are on a 18 month or 2 year cycle for every LTS release.
I don’t think it has the polish yet that the Human Theme had, but overall I like it. The colors look nice (especially with that background) and it certainly feels friendly.
Finding consensus among people for a graphical design is impossible, so having everyone agree that it’s “the best ever” would never happen, but I certainly think it at least looks “good”, and if it became the default theme then got polished for the 8.10 and subsequent releases I would be perfectly happy with it.
What are your thoughts?

oh this one has way better colors than the last “chocolate” proposed ones.
the orange is a bit too bright, so they might want to look at a less bright tone.
the soft grey/silver looks great on the panels.
this one should keep happy most people and has a more modern look than the old brown.
