Fresh out of the Gamestop Managers Conference comes news that SNK Playmore plans to release both King of Fighters XII and Samurai Showdown: Edge of Destiny in the United States.
The King of Fighters XII breathes new life into the long-lasting franchise with completely new 2D sprites and very detailed 2D backgrounds. The game has been confirmed to be 100% hand drawn, utilizing the power of Taito’s Type X-2 arcade system to run in 720p. It will also be publicly unveiled in September at the Tokyo Game Show, one of the largest gaming events in Japan.
King of Fighters XII will hit the United States in May 2009. It will feature online play and will ship on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for $59.99.
Samurai Showdown: Edge of Destiny is the latest sequel and fourth 3D version of the popular Samurai Showdown series. The arcade version of the game has already been released in Japan, made by former Tenchu series developers K2. It is unknown if the arcade version will ever be released in the US, though it has been hinted in the form of English location tests.
Samurai Showdown: Edge of Destiny will hit the United States in June 2009. It will feature online play and will ship on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for $59.99.

I just wann ask is only available 4 latest console gaming like PS3 or X Box 360? Is it really that powerful 2D that could only be handled by latest console (I still crossing my finger if they release PS2 version)
