My wife and I watched The Benchwarmers. With the current score of 5.3/10 we expected to chuckle a few times but not crack a rib.

For some quick background, we love movies like Happy Gilmore, Napoleon Dynomite, Not Another Teen Movie and the Scary Movie series. So maybe we should have expected more, but we didn’t and I think that was the trick.

First off let me say that Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynomite) absolutely made this movie. While the other actors, secondly David Spade, were enjoyable the real point of the movie is to see what Jon is going to do next. If you enjoyed Napoleon Dynomite for the mildly retarded character he plays, you will love The Benchwarmers. He brings more of the same to the screen with an even higher level of stupidity (which is what I love about the character).

Watching things like Jon eat a beetle, crack himself in the back with the bat or throw just about anything is enough to get a pretty good laugh out of me… but when you throw the Napoleon Dynomite “DAAANNNGIT” ontop of that, in the same “GOSH!” voice, it’s just priceless.

Maybe I’m too easy to please or have the mental maturity of a toddler, but I still love toilet humor and goofy characters and Benchwarmers has all that.
