Team Fortress 2 was always the much-waited for sequel to the hit team-based combat HL1-modification Team Fortress. The whole idea of team-based online combat was reshaped with the release of Team Fortress (It started as a hit Quake modification) but a sequel was never released. Right around the time Team Fortress 2 was suppose to come out and demo movies of it started leaking on the net, Counter-Strike found it’s stride and boosted online game play to the H-N-L (whole-nubba-lebel). Suddenly the demo videos of TF2 were starting to look a lot like Counter-Strike, but with vehicles and better animations… not the block-buster revolution it was intended to be. Don’t forget at this same time Day of Defeat started picking up major momentum for the non-CS and even some of the CS-crowd, which left almost no room for another major modification.
Fast forward something like 6 years and TF2 is finally poised to come out in a completely different form than anyone thought but everyone seems to be excited about: a cell-shaded spy-noir type game, think NOLF:
