NOTE: For those of you that don’t watch Lost and can’t understand what all the craze behind Cloverfield’s story is (why not just watch the movie and be done with it?) it’s because when J.J. Abrams creates a story, he sort of creates a fake world around the story (of fake companies, stories, backstory, etc.) [...]

NOTE: I have tried to keep spoilers to a bear minimum (or not at all) in the main review. The “Areas of Improvement” section does contain spoilers and is marked as such. Summary [7.5 out of 10] Cloverfield is a suspenseful, well-paced, believably portrayed recounting of a group of friends during an epic monster attack on Manhattan. [...]

If you went and saw Cloverfield this weekend (lucky!) you may have stayed through the credits and heard the scratch “Help Us” at the end… Dave Bullock sent in the scoop that if played backwards it sounds like “It’s still alive!”, check it out. I’m not sure if I buy this… they sound very different to [...]

idoblu.co.uk has put together a matrix (for your reference) of all the Blu-ray players out there and their capabilities (thanks Engadget!) So next time you head over to Amazon looking for a Blu-ray player, you can quick-check this matrix and see which one you should pick up. TIP: PS3 FTW!

Holy YES. I’ve been waiting for another X-Files movie since… well 10mins after the first one ended. Unlike a lot of the fans I liked the alien/government/cross-breeding story stuff and mass intrigue. I’ve always been a big fan of alien movies in general, and one in particular that made me crap my pants. Well it looks [...]

Engadget reports the stats from the most recent Nielsen ratings and it looks like game-over… game-over man… With a 85/15 split up from the last rating showing a 60/40 split or something like that, I think it’s safe to say HD-DVD is done as far as HD movie media is concerned.

Chris Hunkele sends in news that it looks like (in response to rumors that Apple will drop a Movie-rental bomb tomorrow at MacWorld) Netflix will be uncapping the already generous limits for it’s “Watch it Now” or “Watch Instantly” or now “Instant” media streaming service. Update #1: It’s official, on the “Watch it Instantly Activity” page [...]

There is an article over on Slashfilm talking with the creators of Cloverfield about the work they did on designing the monster for the movie. Apparently the article contains major spoilers so I didn’t personally read it, and don’t want to create any spoilers here for folks that still want to see the movie. Head on [...]

Ouch, it just won’t stop. First Warner announces it’s going Blu-ray exclusive, then it is noticed that Paramount can get out if it’s HD-DVD exclusivity contract due to Warner moving and many speculate it will. Now HBO says it will go Blu-ray exclusive and apparently Universal (the last studio left under HD-DVD) has it’s exclusivity contract come [...]

I had never heard of XstreamHD before, but saw a quick note on EngadgetHD that the press event is scheduled to start at 11am PST today. It was then that I suddenly became painfully aware of what XstreamHD is promising to deliver… and how crazy it would be if they succeed, give it a glance: Includes [...]

The Financial Times is running a story stating that Paramount has a get-out-of-HD-DVD-free clause in their exclusivity contract… specifically if Warner moved to Blu-ray exclusively (but that would NEVER happen). Here’s the current break down of studio support:

Sony has been making the PSP cooler and cooler with each firmware update for both it and the PS3 this year. First we had streaming media/TV from PS3 to PSP, then we had streaming games believe it or not, then we got Skype support on the frigging PSP and now Sony has dropped the hammer [...]
