NO CHANGE in the picture, so the service man reported to CC and their techical dept mulled over whether to replace the tv or try to fix it. Unfortunately they have decided to try to fix it, and will replace the optical block. I’m waiting for it to arrive, two weeks has passed since they told me it would be ordered and they would come and do it.

Like many I’m concerned, is this going to be a redesigned and improved optical block, or just another like the original which may prove defective after 17 months? I’d have preferred to have had the set replaced with a different model.

I can’t believe they are *still* doing this to users, I’m really sorry to hear that.

The trick is just to get educated, and call them back and let them know exactly what is going on, they will change their tune quick “Oh THAT problem, yes… that is an issue, we’ll schedule a warranty repair for you”

Is there another class action lawsuit starting on this???

Todd H, just recently was given the total cold shoulder by Circuit City for honoring their warranty for repairing his set, and Sony wouldn’t talk to him.

He was completely stone-walled by both and eventually emailed the Chief Executive office at CC to get the situation rectified.

also the first thing you want to do is call Sony, they have extended warranties for these TV’s into Oct of 2008 I believe just to avoid the class action.

They should give you a service number, and then you should be able to call a local service center and have them come out and do the repair free of charge.

Do you have a link handy by chance? Maybe TI was trying to make a case *against* LCoS and for DLP?

I talked to a technician at Circuit City about the problem with my set. He did say that more and more people have been complaining about the problem with the Sony’s. I asked the technician why would Circuit City try to sell me a product that they knew had these problems, or why didn’t they tell me about the problem before the sale. He explained that it was a “problem” that Sony had been trying to keep under wraps, and that Circuit City may not have known about this defect with the Sony’s.

My set is out of it’s warranty by two and half months now, and I’m stuck with a 50″ LCD TV that doesn’t have a good picture because of the green haze!

What can I do? $2600.00 down the drain! Seems to me that there should be a class action suit against Sony if they aren’t willing to correct the problem or return the money for it’s defective TV’s.

I guess it’s time to contact the PA Attorney General’s office?

Purchased my SXRD 50″ in November 06. So far I’m not detecting any green haze or blob on startup or thereafter. Keeping my fingers crossed.
