Is it April 1st already? :)

Personally, I’d take this with a ton of salt, but rumors are that we might see Duke Nukem Forever in 2008.

An insider reveals that significant progress has been made on the PC code of the game and development has finally picked up its pace over the year. The game’s look is supposed to be completely over the edge with tons of stuff returning from the original series (Shrink ray and Nuke button rumored to be confirmed).

The gameplay is being pepped up with attitude, killing a mutated pig with a 8 ball stick never felt so good, a console version is also being planned upon simultaneously, and expect further announcements around some big gaming expos next year.

I think I’ll wait for the four horsemen to show up before I go and reserve my copy, but stranger things have happened…

Update: Just in case some of our readers weren’t born when this whole story started, here’s a link to the Wikipedia article detailing its 10 year (so far) development process… (I STILL have the PC Gamer from November 1997 with the Duke Nukem Forever cover…)

I really hope they’re able to deliver on this game, starting to see how ironic and ridiculous the title “Duke Nukem Forever” is haha. Reminds me of Prey’s development, and I was pretty content when it finally came out, even though the gameplay really didn’t have much to offer in terms of new mechanics. The portals and wall walking was just “ok”, hardly innovative.

I hope Duke team go further and revamp the game to make it actually look like they give a damn comparing it to games that actually have seen the light recently instead of what we were playing back then, which Prey seemed a bit like. This is a big name franchise though.
