Update #1: Here’s the official complete confirmed Rock Band 2 artist and song list!

During G4 TV’s preview run of Rock Band 2, some forum goers over at ScoreHero Forums snagged a screenshot of part of the song-list screen. Kotaku further broke it down with a best-guess of artists backing the song list, and we have:

  • “Panic Attack” by Dream Theater or Finger Eleven
  • “Chop Suey” by System of a Down
  • “Give It Away” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • “Everlong” by Foo Fighters
  • “Kids In America” by Kim Wilde
  • “Ace of Spades” by Motörhead
  • “Hello There” by Cheap Trick
  • “Anyway You Want It” by Journey
  • “Pinball Wizard” by The Who

Looking pretty good. I’m loving Journey, Dream Theater, Foo Fighters and Chili Peppers.

Thanks Kotaku!

    Thanks Mat!

  3. jason Says:

i think those are downloads from RB1

  4. liam Says:

no you can’t download give it away, and everlong

this has to be rb2 because it was stated that the old songs will carry over hence all the small things and boston

which unless your cheap have already bought

  5. Michael Says:

Indeed, More Than A Feeling is downloadable for RB1. So is All The Small Things.

  6. Joe Says:

Liam, you’re dumb. Jason meant the last two songs, not the whole list.

Riyad, you are also not very smart. If you are such a big fan of boston, they have a whole album available to download for RB1.

  7. Riyad Kalla Says:

    Joe,
You are an internet warrior. You win the prize!

  8. Liam Says:

    Joe you smell like poop

    you guys know if it’strue?

  9. Riyad Kalla Says:

    Liam,
Not sure if that’s true or not, but if it is, we are all over it!

    xGeegx,
Thanks for posting that, looking pretty hot!

  13. dummerdrummer Says:

i friggin knew it… if there ever was to be a motorhead song on rock band it was going to be friggin friggin friggin ace of spades. i love motorhead to the point that i have 2 motorhead tattoos and i am really really sick of this song. please somebody punch the guys pickin these songs. i knew its all about licensing and all that crap but motorhead only had like 300 albums, how about something that truly rocks, like “locomotive”, or “ridin with the driver”, or “mean machine”? its not like anybody but lemmy can sing motorhead anyway, so who needs to be familiar with the lyrics? the only song i would not recommend is “overkill” cause even with 2 bass pedals i cant kick as fast as fast eddie clark. and for the foo fighters, “times like these” is a much better song.
    so there…wow i need a smoke and a shower

  14. dummerdrummer Says:

ratt was in the 90″s wow did i get stoned for 10 years cuz i heard them-not listened to them- in the eighties.hmmmm.
and i think uncontrollable urge from devo was 1979… maybe im splitting hairs here. maybe its time for a beer

  15. dummerdrummer Says:

oh hey yeah the reason i got on here in the first place… is there a chart or list anyplace that breaks the songs down by difficulty for each instrument…i know there is the thingy when you are in the rock band store and lookin for new stuff but i would like a total breakdown…anybody seen anything like that?

  16. xGeegx Says:

Dude you are totally true. On the first Rock Band, the only songs I liked were Enter Sandman, Still Alive (lol), and Train Kept A Rollin. The second one has some better ones but there still is like only 8 of em’ As for the Ace of Spades, it’s overplayed and I’ve had enough of it from Guitar Hero 1. God dammit I hate Harmonix, but they are rock songs so I buy their game. I don’t know of any chart. You can always listen to the songs you don’t know and see how hard they are, lol. Only if you got nothing else to do……..

  17. Riyad Kalla Says:

here-here dummerdrummer, +1 to what you said.

I can’t drum for shit, but I do enjoy playing the rock songs… I feel more “rock star” doing it.

I can only imagine if you busted out the $300 Ion Drumskit for Rock Band 2 with a second bass pedal how intense that would be…

  18. dummerdrummer Says:

i will prob get the ion kit with 2 pedals if i cant find a schematic to rig 2 rb 1 kits together for the high hat and crash. i have 2 pedals rigged to my kit now for some of the real fast kick stuff, simple enough its just 1 stereo splitter and wires from radio shack. the only problem i have is resplicing the wires together every time my crazy jr terrier decides its time to eat my wires again. anybody have any feedback on how sturdy the new kits will be, i mean the cymbals look pretty friggin flimsy to me. i will prob get gh world tour and rb 2 im stupid like that. my roomie bought gh3 i bought extra les paul then got rb and got an extra stratocaster then went to 2 nyko frontmen guitars. then i got an extra drum kit so i would have a spare when i broke these and to have another pedal. its like crack isnt it…every time i see a cool new guitar or something i work overtime to get it, and i barely play the damn guitar.
oh if anybody wants to play i play on the ps3 and get on usually around 12:30-1:00 AM EASTERN US TIME as smeppy. roomie is expert guitar on most song i do expert drums most songs, hard if we are drunk
lets start a no ace of spade movement and get another motorhead song on rb 2 all… i vote for “locomotive”…that will give the guitar guys shit fits haha
    laterz

  19. xGeegx Says:

No Ace of Spades! Let’s do it. I’m with you all the way drummerdrummer! That’s pretty amazing that you can play the drums on expert. The only song I can play on expert is Wanted Dead or Alive. I’m more of a guitar guy. I can beat all the songs on expert and I gold starred 32 songs. I even gold starred Highway Star, but I missed like 7 notes. ????????? How did that happen? lolololololol I don’t have PS3. No offense, but I hate Sony. I don’t buy any of their stuff. I might eventually get a PS3, but that’s only if it goes down a lot on the price, or if Sly Cooper 4 comes out! :D I have an Xbox 360 however. Hit me up on Xbox Live if anyone wants to play with me. My gamertag is xGeegx. Happy rocking everyone!

  20. dummerdrummer Says:

so whats the news with rb 2-anybody listening? where do i go to complain about the crappy set list they are going to shove on us? i mean, some of the songs look ok but please… if you are going to have system of a down on it then why not toxicity-i know its overplayed but it is a better song than chop suey. and please please no more bang camaro-they suck so hard me hair is always pointed in the direction that they are in from me. if you want a good disturbed song, how about stupified please. guns and roses dont deserve to be on anything with rock band in the title, ok maybe mr brownstone but thats it. mastodon… MASTODON???!!! shut the hell up. tenacious d might be ok if they werent a fake rock band, i dont care if they write real songs and do real albums or whatever, they are the spinal tap of the new millenium. now red hot chili peppers give it away is a good choice, perfect example of how good bands that do heroin should keep doing heroin and making good music til they die of heroin, not get cleaned up and put out crap like stadium arcadium. californication if a great song to stick a screwdriver in your eye to. rage against the machine.. great band… testify, not so great a song… lets change that to bombtrack please, and im not kidding. listen to bombtrack that song kicks ass, or even bullet in the head-not a bad song either. maybe even sleep now in the fire-thats what we need. mighty mighty bosstones-please change that to royal oil or the rascal king, and put out a plastic trumpet or saxaphone to play along. good choice with sonic youth with teenage riot, cause we dont have to listen to that drugged out bitch kim gordon( bitch couldnt carry a tune in a bucket). maybe im bitter, who knows. all i can ask is please if nothing else changes in this new game please please please take the steve miller band song out. i have wanted to stab that man to death with a serving fork from the first time i heard “the joker”. so angry.

  21. Editor Says:

    dummerdrummer,

The set list for the launch may not be up your alley, but how was the DLC for Rock Band 1? If you liked it, it will all work with Rock Band 2 *and* might give an indication of where they will take the DLC forward with Rock Band 2.

So between the RB1 DLC and RB2 soon-to-come DLC, hopefully there should be some awesome titles in there for you to go nuts on with tie Ion Drum Kit? (iirc you mentioned you might get it because you were a drummer?)

  22. xGeegx Says:

Here is a list of the songs that the bands should have picked instead of the ones on there or songs that I wish were on there:

    Linkin Park – Crawling
    System of a Down – B.Y.O.B.
Rage Againts the Machine – Gorilla Radio
    Megadeth – She Wolf
    Metallica – Master of Puppets
    Metallica – King Nothing

Now for the songs I wish were on there:

Michael Stanley – Let’s Get the Show on the Road
    AC/DC – Thunderstruck
    Lamb of God – Ruin
Lamb of God – Walk With me in Hell
Lamb of God – What I’ve Become
Three Days Grace – Animal I Have Become
    Three Days Grace – Pain
    Finger Eleven – Parlyzer
    Megadeth – Prince of Darkness

Can’t think of anymore right now, but drummerdrummer, you are absolutely right. They pick some pretty good artists but the worst or most overplayed songs. I swear they just look at the billboards and just pick the songs that are pretty high up there without ever listening to them, lol

  23. dummerdrummer Says:

i know they pick the stuff everybody knows. its ok i was just venting a bit after a suck fart day at work and didnt mean to go all frothy there mr editor. my main problem i have with rock band now is simple. when i get online with others i want a simple option to block out songs i will not play at that time, not to say i dont ever play some songs i do them all, even the crap ones…but sometimes after joining 4 bands in 2 hours for some online fun, the 4th time i have to play coheed and cambria(a song i happen to like) i get a little pissy. one other small thing… i want an option to start online and NOT be the leader…most of the time i wll play whatever anybody else wants to play, but i cant get 2 songs into a jam without people dropping out. i think my first point i spoke about would help enormously with people dropping out.
another thing – i dont mind at all having to save people who fail out in a song because i was there and still am on some songs, like i know i can do it on expert but dammit sometimes i get crossed up(my guitar player friend calls it losing his fingers) and flub a song up. i have had my ass pulled out the fire a few times, thank you all, and realize playing on easier difficulty levels gets to be a drag and you want to show off your chops when you get good. my main pisser is people who give up and disconnect in the middle of a song because they arent killing it. i know there is nothing you can do to beat the primma donna out of some folks, but how about the network sending them automatically a message telling they are a wank. is that so wrong? am i cynical? whatever. i prefer to think of myself as a proud under-achiever who plays too many video games.

  24. dummerdrummer Says:

oh, and the dlc was looking good at first, got lame, got great, them really got lame the more they went to glam and emo bands. got killer with the new nine inch nails songs and rush non-cover but when they put tokyo hotel on there i died a little inside. ARGH!!! I WANT SOME BILLY TALENT ON THERE I DONT CARE ANY MORE (RIVER BELOW please)… and while we are at it, how about a few hip hop songs that have guitars in them, like some ICP or something…im sure they could do it.
one more song and i will shut up for tonight… I AGAINST I by Bad Brains.
    look it up
ok i lied 2 songs… AENIMA by Tool
and maybe LEFT BEHIND by Slipknot
    SHHHHH!!! KGB is listening!

  25. dummerdrummer Says:

just dloaded toxicity for rb and i have wood lol
maybe they are reading my comments? if i wasnt so god damn humble i would think so, because delusions of grandeur are for crazy people. Course, then again, just cuz im a normal joe doesnt mean there isnt a global conspiracy to bring me down. damn aarp sumbitches
my thought is maybe i am paranoid, but am i being paranoid enough?
oh well, time to jam and drink and drink and jam. but not necessarily in that order.

  26. xGeegx Says:

Just found some new songs I want for Rock Band 2:

    Chimaira – Nothing Remains
    Chimaira – Let Go
    Chimaira – Resurrection
    AC/DC – TNT
David Glen Eisley – Sweet Victory
Ted Nuggent – Free For All
    Diesel Boy – Shining Star
    Limp Bizkit – Rollin’

Chimaira has some damn good vocals. I wanna sing Resurrection so bad! Listen to them, I recomend them. MORE METAL!

  27. Editor Says:

Congrats guys, I’m glad to hear they are getting some metal in there for you. When you want it, nothing else is a substitute!

  28. dummerdrummer Says:

ok so its been a week since i have been able to use my ghwt drums on rb 2. i must say, i like these drums more than the rb drums. i boycotted the dlc until they put out the patch for the drums, now im working sunday to catch up yip yar. got my tuning cable for the drum kit and worked out all the squishiness, and working my way back up to where my skill level was on the rb drums. roomie guitar man says the ghwt guitar is the most solid and best feeling guitar he has tried. bigger than the les paul ukuleles and much better performance than the strato-crappers that came with rb. the strats with rb 2 are supposed to be better but still the nasty squishy ol’ strum bar. there is a web site that sells clickers to replace the squishers, gotta check out there customer feedback.
first major accomplishment was a 98 percent on judas priest painkiller, not great but improving. how are y’all doing?
lets get together for a beer!!!
    BOOSH!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Riyad Kalla Says:

    dummerdrummer,

Thanks for posting your findings — so far I cannot get a peep out of my friends that have World Tour, they say “it’s fun” then no addition comments… really annoying.

Interesting to hear that the new guitar and drums feel better, I would point out that the Rock Band 2 improved guitar AND drums are not part of the “special edition” bundle, you have to buy them separately… which is f-ing annoying for folks that want to get the whole upgraded experience in once go.

  30. dummerdrummer Says:

holy crap in a hatbox finally got some white zombie on rock band-shooooper shweeeet
and i went back to rb drums-actually got the rb2 wireless ones-the ghwt drums are hard to tune to rb2-yes they are quieter yes the cymbals are nice but on the down side they suck ass-have to crush the toms and when you do a crash hits, so you turn the sensitivity down on the cymbals and you have to crush them and a tom hits-total suck.
how have all you been? how about we get together and get drunk?
