This is just too cool for anybody that ever wanted a flying car or to go into space. Roger Shawyer has developed an engine with no moving parts that propels itself using microwaves “by exploiting the strange properties of relativity”… whatever that means.
The British government is funding Shawyer’s work with interested parties from the US, China and other countries lining up to see the results of the prototype that Shawyer has built. Shawyer’s background is in the aerospace industry after working his way to the top and resigning after being told that his idea should be dropped and forgotten about. Shawyer was convinced that a solor-charged, microwave-powered jet engine would be the panacea solution to any jet-propelled device and in 2000 set out to accomplish this task on his own.
