It was reported shortly after the last PS3 Firmware 2.10 release that DivX support was added but Xvid support was only added when the media was played off the PS3’s hard drive. Well for you lucky Infrant ReadyNAS folks out there, it looks like the soon-to-be-released RAIDiator 4 relase of the OS for the ReadyNAS devices adds streaming Xvid support.

For folks that want to wait for the final 4 release of RAIDiator, it should be any day now. They are on their 2nd RC candidate, and I *believe* you can go the System menu in the admin console and run “Update” and it will pull the latest snapshot. So if you are desperate, you should be able to apply it now.

For the folks streaming off of ReadyNAS devices, NETGEAR has released an update to the ReadyNAS OS that revamps the UPnP A/V streaming implementation — I haven’t tested it yet to see if it improves this streaming situation over Wireless-G but plan to later today.
