The question of professional ISF calibration for new HDTV sets has been coming up a lot in the Mitsubishi 731/732/831, Sony KDS-XXA2000 and Samsung thread… most likely others as well. The reason it keeps coming up is that there is a set of 4 or more common posters to AVS that are infact professional ISF calibrators that go around the country doing this service. For easy reference you can get ahold of these folks by private message (PM) on the AVS Forum site, their handles are:
- Contact Eliab
- David Abrams
- UMR
- Greg Lowen
Getting ahold of these guys and letting them know you would like a professional calibration and see when they will be in or around your town. I believe professional calibration is usually in the $3-400 ballpark to get on a new set, so for a TV that you think already looks great and if you historically haven’t been very nit-picky about your televisions, I wouldn’t spend another $400 to get it calibrated. But if you have a brand new 71″ Samsung or something and see more noise than you would like on it, calibration can help to optimize the set and make it look just fantastic.
