Politics Digging Hooks Into Gamers This Year… More to Come

Gaming, Life & World

Something new this election, that I haven’t seen before, is the direct focus on gamers that politicians and advertising agencies are taking.

A few days ago we got an email to post a new World of Warcraft machinima movie seeing who gets “Pwned” in Azeroth (here it is by the way):

Then we saw over on G4TV that the Mercenaries 2 team is working fast-and-hard (that’s what she said) on getting a small patch out of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames that will add playable Sarah Palin and Barack Obama characters to the game:

As Ryan correctly pointed out over at Giant Bomb, there is something strange about having the leader of the free world and potential vice president running around levelling Venezuela.

I also thought the choice by the Pandemic team was interesting… not Obama and McCain, but Obama and Palin. Is McCain really irrelevant now after all, or was Pandemic just going for sex-appeal?

It is a bit odd that they chose Palin, but McCain being a military man it is not that much of a stretch for him to he fighting like that. Palin on the other hand is controversial and has the sex appeal thing going.
