What you see above is a screenshot of the “Please fix the iPhone” (PFTI) site. The website is very much like Dell’s Idea Storm site in that it asks for community input on what things they want from Dell, allowing others to vote up or vote down those ideas and leave comments about them.
The PFTI site is done in such a trendy/nice-looking way with plenty of iPhone love on it that I have to wonder if this was an effort put forth by Apple either directly or indirectly through a partner group.
Right now the Top 4 issues that folks want fixed are:
- Copy and Paste
- Tilt Support for Reading Email
- Flash Support in Safari
- iChat
- MMS & Multi-Attached Photo Emails
None of these I imagine are low-hanging fruit for Apple, otherwise I can’t understand why they wouldn’t have been added already. I know one issue that regularly drives me nuts is #2, especially since typing horizontally is a lot more comfortable and supported within Safari already.
#3 has to be one of the biggest reasons that the iPhone hasn’t destroyed the competition yet, but I also have to imagine that it’s already being worked on either by Apple’s own volition or Adobe wanting to get in on that market as well.
Give the website a look and see if an issue you want fixed is in there, then vote for it! Whether you are an iPhone fan or not, the better the iPhone gets as a mobile device, the better every other mobile device has to get to stay competitive… so either way it’s a win-win.
