The “Break it Down” Blog

For those of you not farmiliar with PAX, it is the Penny Arcade Expo and is poised to become the replacement for E3. My friend, Laurence Hartje, has gone to PAX and is reporting on it for us:

Day three was much calmer (I think everyone was recovering from two previous sleep deprived days…)

Two guys were playing a WoW NPC game – one was wandering around with a yellow styrofoam “!” over his cap, while the other was walking around with the “?”. The quest was “My friend has lost his marbles, can you find him and return one to him?” [I caught them right by each other, so it was a very easy quest]. My reward, a green item (it was a green circle sticker), and 10xp. This caused me to ding, so I was congratulated by the fellow PAXers waiting in line with me.

The Q&A w/Tycho and Gabe was hilarious. They shared the fact that Gabe’s favorite cuss word is “Cock Thirsty” while Tycho prefers “Fuck Sticks”. Also, during the live comic drawing session yesterday (that I missed), they decided to call Jack Thompson. They let the audience leave a message on his voicemail (everyone booing). He decided to return the call last night (while they were at dinner), so he played the voicemail that Jack left for the crowd. (It wasn’t much, something like “This is Jack, I have this name and number now”. I hope he doesn’t call the FBI on them again.

Someone made a life-sided Fruit Fucker, and gave it to Gabe and Tycho (pictures on the site). Yes, it actually works (although the method of producing juice was not confirmed).

Also, they were presented with at stuffed Div! (complete with alcohol)

Tycho also sang the Tron song (from the Kingdom Hearts 2 strip).

I didn’t catch the end of the Omegathon, so I don’t know what the last game was (or who won) – I had to go grab some food.

Swung back after a late lunch, and played some PvP of Pirates of the Burning Sea – it was fun (PvP is interesting when movement is a lot more than just click and run, since you need to take into account wind speed & direction).

I’m home now, so its time to break into the stash of goodies I picked up (or a more likely event, catching up on lost sleep).
