As we move into the fall the announcements of mobile devices are going to start leaking out of our ears… especially sexy, Christmas-fodder devices.
A lot of folks a few months ago were waiting for HTC’s next “Sexy device” after the HTC Touch ended up sucking balls with slow performance, crappy software and not the greatest touch experience.
HTC then announced the HTC Touch HD, still the same device with improvements all around and a rediculously high-resolution (480×800) screen running Windows Mobile. The assumption is that the device would drop in the US running the upcoming Windows Mobile 7. Unfortunately for users this news was quashed when Microsoft came out and announced that Windows Mobile 7 would be delayed until 2009 with devices not making it to market until late 2009 or even early 2010.
With that crappy news in the pipeline, it probably didn’t seem like that much of a surprise when a twitter account for ‘htc’ announced that the Touch HD wasn’t going to make a release in the states after all.
With most of the buzz circling around HTC’s G1 Android device for T-Mobile anyway, HTC likely set it’s sights on a revised G1, Revision 2 for release next summer instead of hanging around waiting on Windows Mobile 7 to be ready for the Touch HD to be release.
Probably a good move on HTC’s part, and has me excited for whatever the G2 will look like.
Thanks BGR!
