Kotaku has the poop on this sweet-ass gun mod using a Nerf gun and a Nerf chainsaw.
The entire process including pictures of it along the way are included in Forsaken_angel24’s thread over on the Nerfhaven forums.

The mod isn’t for the weak of heart as it requires chopping into the Nerf toys themselves and getting pretty creative:
I think this guy works for NASA or something… if I tried to make this I’d probably end up with something that looked like a broom handle.

That was a very good idea to create your very own gears of war chainsaw gun but I think the real chainsaw guns are down at toys”r”us.Maybe you should go down there and see.

Hey, 00-1, this IS a chainsaw gun. The guy bought a Nerf gun down at Toys-R -Us and modded it to look like that.

cdm, no one is making the Nerf mods to sell (Nerf would sue them) *but* Amazon.com has an exclusive bundle for Gears of War 2 that includes a life-sized lancer, unfortunately it doesn’t come out until November 7th, so you’ll miss the Halloween window… now that I think of it, they really dropped the ball on that, how many kids would have *loved* to have a Lancer for Halloween? That would have been a good idea.
NOTE: The exclusive bundle is $140, so you are paying almost $70 for the Lancer (oyvey…)

oh holy-hell, upon further investigation it seems that link I gave you for $140 is *just* for the Lancer, it’s not even for the game. To order the Game + Lancer is $210… ouch.

Hey editor, people often do sell modded nerf guns. ebay is a popular outlet. Sometimes it’s even possible to recruit one of these modders to make one on commission. Although the qualitly of the work varies from one modder to another. cdm, try popular nerf forums such as nerfhaven.com and you might be able to find someone to make one for you, obviously they’re not always cheap either…
