The “Break it Down” Blog

When we originally saw the announcement about Mortal Kombat continuing it’s development forward with the cross-breeding of the DC Universe comic characters, we didn’t know what to think. Hitting people in the face and ripping their spines out is usually always fun, so we didn’t really care who the punching bags were.

VE3D dropped an extended gameplay video today that showed quite a bit of fighting… overall the gore is tuned way down for some stupid reason, but the reactive levels still seem to be there. For example, pushing someone through a wall or off a cliff and punching them on the way down looks pretty hot.

The gore thing really sticks in my craw, that was what the Mortal Kombat franchise built it’s name on. We’ve gone from pools of blood flying up and out of people’s heads as you punch them to just puffs of red now:
