This gets filed right at the top of the “WTF” file…
Morgan Spurlock, the guy that did Super Size Me (documentary about how unhealthy McDonald’s food can be), between filming his show 30 Days (about people doing drastically different things from their normal lives for 30 days) and his movie What would Jesus Buy (discussing the commercialization of Christmas), he has apparently been traveling across the Middle East looking for Osama Bin Laden.
While the buzz alone isn’t worth more than a raised eyebrow the real mystery behind it all comes into play when Spurlock put on a 15-min private screening for only 50 studio buyers (after signing confidentiality agreements) and then the bidding for the movie started.
The Weinstein brothers won the bidding for $25 million (MILLION!) and the first cuts of the movie are going to be seen publicly at the Sundance Film Festival next year (which I believe is January 17-27 in Utah if I have my link correct).
The obvious speculation here is that whatever was in Spurlock’s movie, was worth $25 million and I’m curious… damn curious.
