Lamont,
Also be sure to post to the "<a href="http://www.breakitdownblog.com/mitsubishi-wd-65831-air-flow-problem/" rel="nofollow">Air Flow</a>", there were a lot of Mits owners there, some getting down and dirty with the insides of their sets that might be able to help.

Congrats on the new TV, that sounds awesome.

Also my replacement went through without a hitch and we love the set, thank you for asking.

About the DVI connection, I haven't used it yet, but a friend that got the identical set uses it as a HTPC (home theater PC) and aparently the underscan you are seeing is totally normal. For some reason there is not a 1:1: mapping like with computer monitors, and you get this strange dimension for full screen (like 1798x978 or somtehing strange).

I don't have the whispering sound problem when the internal speakers are turned off and I don't use any OTA antenna so I can't confirm the Guide issue.

I am using a Comcast STB so I can't confirm the incorrect time issue with.

Also the "split second dim" is most likely caused by the Dark Detailer... the iris can be adjusting for a scene. On my set, I noticed that every time I turn my TV back on, it implicitly re-enables the Dark Detailer, even if I've turned it off. So if you did turn this feature off, you may want to cycle back through the settings to turn it on (no change) then off again.

Hope your replacement tv does good. I just bought a 73831 and was googling to see what other problem people were having and found your site.

Have you tried connecting your computer to the DVI-I?

I have upgraded to the latest firmware of the tv (.02) but still have the same problems before the upgrade.

I have several issues:

For PC-DVI 1080P doesn't fill the whole screen (for reduced) but overscan the other way. I tried using powerstrip of didn't help. I wonder if the electronics for the input is forcing to a certain timing. I also wonder why Mitsubishi is not filling the whole screen without overscanning or underscanning. Also still get the Invalid input error.

When I turn off the tv speakers through menu --> setup, I can still hear whisper sounds coming through.

When I turn on TV (when set to Ant1 when turned off), I get the guide screen. Is there a way to turn this off (I still want the quide function but only when I select guide)

Still need to verify where I'm getting the video tearing. Is it the TV or source?

When set to time auto, I get the incorrect time (sometimes) but guide time is correct. I still need to verify this is a problem after update.

Just last night I noticed a spit second dim on my tv. I was watching a recorded show. I jumped back to see if I could see it again (it was the recording) but didn't. I saw it several times. I'm going to keep my eye on this.

Also, saw your post of the TV settings. I'm going to try it on my set to see how it looks.
