Ouch… right after Mirror’s Edge was released on consoles as either a love it or hate it ordeal (I’d say I lean towards the first) it looks like they are sprucing up the PC launch of the title with full physical material rendering done by the NVIDIA PhysX engine that was recently integrated directly into the display drivers (no need for a separate AGEIA card anymore).
VE3D posted a quick video showing off some of the badass new material physics, most notable is the plastic wrap and construction material getting shredded apart by machine gun fire… my god that looks good:

Wow. If I thought my PC could handle running i I’d get it for PC instead of Xbox 360 now. Unfortunately my PC is like a couple years old and would not be able to but wow that looks nice.

I am really pumped to see those advancements in games (realistic materials – like water and cloth) will take us one step closer to what we eventually refer to as “next gen”, I also feel that animation is a big part of this step (no longer graphics, but movement).
As a quick referesher, NVIDIA integrated PhysX into the GPU platform now that it’s reimplemented ontop of their CUDA framework, which means PS3 owners will have access to such features moving forward (albeit not as advanced as the PC with the newer hardware).
I’m pumped to see what we get Fall of ‘09 with regard to PS3 vs 360 titles.
