ExtremeTech explains how Microsoft is screwing up the new (XBox) Live on Vista service. Apparently someone over at Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to impose the same limitations on PC gamers that the XBox Live gamers have when subscribing to certain levels of “Live”, namely:

  • Silver Membership (Free)
    •  Get a server list, join a game
    • Get single-player achievements
  • Gold Membership ($50 / year)
    • Get a server list, join a game
    • Get single-player achievements
    • Get multi-player achievements
    • Chat with players
    • Player matching

So in the face of having a failed platform launch, and competition on the console front from Sony… Microsoft decides to squeeze you and me out of every single red-cent we have, until they are forced to stop. They are normally such a pleasant company.

Seriously? They screwed up a new service or product launch? Weird…
