This is pretty slick, The Chris Harrison project has created maps of the internet showing different things like connectivity, density, etc.

The US and Europe are insanely wired, with strong connectivity through Japan, some of Australia and other locations. But it’s really surprise how devoid of connectivity (For the most part) the Southern Hemisphere of the planet is.
