Just for the folks that didn’t know… it’s sort of non-news, but Little Big Planet was slated to be released this month and due to a song included in the game making 2 references to the Qur’an, Muslims were upset with the use of that song from the game and requested that Sony remove it.
I’m told that it was done very respectfully and brought to Sony’s attention in a very classy manner, regardless of what the media hyped it all up to be… so that’s cool atleast.
Little Big Planet got delayed 1 week due to the change. Below is the song that was pulled, it’s quite catchy, I sort of wish it would have picked up the pace a bit in the middle, but still a nice song. Here’s a bit more about the song in case you are interested:
The song is called “Tapha Niang” from the 2006 album Boulevard de l’Independance by Grammy award-winning Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté.
Enjoy
One the bright side I’m sure there are a lot of folks heading over to Amazon to check out and possibly buy this CD, so that’s a big plus for Diabaté. BTW if you want the CD, here’s the link.
