This seems… a bit aggressive to me, but I understand why it might be necessary…
In Washington D.C., infrared cameras are being installed to watch the commuters in the carpool lane. As the cars pass under the camera, if only 1 human is detected in the car, the driver will be issued a ticket for using the lane illegally.
This is a lot like the speed cameras that were installed in Phoenix on the Loop-101. They underwent testing for a few months but rolled out almost 2 years ago. The real suckers in that case, are the poor folks that don’t know about them… and just bought a Porche… and it’s the middle of the day on a Wednesday… and they want to go really fast ![]()

Hello,
I am currently helping the consulting firm IBI Group locate some images for a report we are preparing for Metrolinx. We have a section in our report for carpools and have written a short summary of it. It would be great if we could include a picture to accompany the summary.
In particular, I was interested in the following image of yours: http://www.breakitdownblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/carpool_lane.jpg
If you don’t mind us using the image, would you be able to send us a high-res version?
We are under an extremely tight deadline on the report, so I have to resolvethis ASAP.
Feel free to reply to this address or call Dylan Passmore if you have any questions.
Please find Dylan’s contact information below.
regards,
Michael Yan
