Welcome to the first of many installments of ‘Indie Game of the Week’. Every week we’ll pick one of our favorite indie games to showcase for all you readers out there. The games may range from downloadable titles to very well made flash games that can be play in your browser.
This week we’d like to talk about ‘Choke on my Groundhog, YOU BASTARD ROBOTS‘. To begin the game is very simple and easy to play. You move around with WASD, aim & shoot with the mouse, and travel back in time with the space bar.
Time Travel is where the game becomes really neat and unique. Instead of just rewinding time to a point before you got killed, you start over. Only this time you have a clone of yourself following everything you did up until the point where you died. So what happens if you prevent yourself from dying? Unfortunately nothing, the you that died(or should have) will kind of just hang there.
If you die again you can have two other versions of yourself, hopefully helping you get a little closer to the finish line. In total you can have 3 or 4 versions of yourself repeating all the moves you make, while you focus on other enemies.
Graphically the game looks really good. It has a very nice artstyle that reminds me of another game by the same developer, called Crayon Physics. The great thing about such a simple artstyle in that is should run well on pretty much any computer.
The only downside to the game is that because of the time travel feature, the enemies become very predictable after playing the game a few times. Overall though, this should serve as a great way to pass the time at work or school.
Thanks Petri Purho!
Remember, if you enjoy this game, tell your friends and make sure to check out all the other games by this developer!

I’m honored that a game of mine was the first Indie Game of the Week! I hope you continue this feature and if you run out of indie games, just email me and I’d be happy to provide you with links to other peoples’ indie games.
Btw. I just wanted to point out, that even though the graphics style looks very simple it actually requires quite powerful graphics card. The game draws quite a lot of sprites (and particles) on the screen and that can cause some slowdowns.

In all honesty you deserve it. Ive played quite a few of your games and they are all fantastic. I’m especially a fan of Crayon Physics and I’m really excited for Crayon Physics Deluxe.
We also appreciate the offer of helping us find other indie games. We’ll definitely have to contact you and hopefully we can get someones game the much needed attention it deserves.
Oh and about the graphics, I was playing the game on an ATI Radeon 2950SE and had very little trouble playing the game. Perhaps I was just so into the game that I overlooked any slowdown.
