I just want to welcome everyone to the “Break it Down” blog… I’ll probably start calling it BIDB for short; pronounced “bid-bee” I suppose.

As I mention on the About page, the BIDB is intended for people to get summarized information on complex subjects. The subject I think is the easiest to use as an example are HDTVs. Consider the 3 major types of technologies of HDTV, not to mention the different potential sources of HD content. What about upconversion? Do I care about 1080p? What is an eDTV? And the list goes on. If you are someone that is getting into the market for an HDTV or anything else, this blog would provide a place where you could come, read one of my blog entries (and associated comments) on a topic (like HDTV, cars, laptop computers, etc.) and walk away with about 80-90% of the information you would need to either keep researching on your own or even make a decision.

I want to provide readers links and information that either give the really detailed oriented ones the tools to go do the research they need or give the more easy going ones enough information to feel comforatable walking into a store and saying “Alright, I want that one” and knowing that they got a piece of equipment that they will enjoy.

I don’t want to give the impression that I know everything; hardly. I just want to provide what information I can to help others. In return I’m hoping other people, smarter than me, will post comments and followups either providing additional information I didn’t know about to the reader or helping correct mistakes I might have made in my original post.

The bottom line is that I think researching a product by trusting 1 reviewer at one site can be a mistake and conversly, digging through every resource on the web is tiring.
