If it's the older one, both the sidekick and the G1 can use the same t-mobile edge network, it's just a matter of having the APN setup correctly (which is mentioned in the article AND likely under your system settings on the phone) If it's 3G, they will both work on the T-mobile 3g network, and again imagine it's just an issue of having the APN setup correctly. The base G1 data plan I believe is still $25/mo so it’s not too much more than what you are paying.
