Grant Gochnauer just sent in the shocking news that Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment (say he died at 3:26pm)… no cause of death given yet, but a “cardiac arrest call” was called into the station at 2:27pm.

Update #1: TMZ has more details. The maid and masseuse found him in cardiac arrest and called 911. The paramedics tried to revive him and couldn’t, they pronounced him dead at the scene. There was a comment that they found prescription pills near his bed, but before I made something of that I’d be curious what the pills were (could just be something minor). Also like 1/2 the planet is on prescription pills… so again, don’t jump on that detail yet.
