Update #1: Ok so I watched all these movies, and I have to say that the story for Halo is a lot more interesting/impressive than I originally gave it credit for.
How did I, my friends and Gabe from Penny Arcade all not notice this before? I’ll tell you how, they had all these nice cutscenes explaining the story, but separated them with shit-repetative-gameplay that made you want to stop playing. So you’d go into these cutscenes annoyed and pissed off and likely not paying as much attention as you should.
One friend that played the Halos had no idea what the story was. And when I rewatched these movies above, I was surprised to see that the story I thought was Halo 2, was actually Halo 1, and all of Halo 2, was actually what I thought had been part of 1 of the games.

The halo 2 story fails tiny bit.
Atleast the beginning, the fleet commander is not punished cause of destruction of halo. Hes punished because in the books chief captures his covenant ship.
The book i red this from is halo: first strike and its between halo 1 and halo 2. In the end Tartarus the big brute is given order to punish this commander cause of his “betrayal”.
