Fox and Universal studios (funding and distrobution) have pulled out of the Halo movie product. Aparently the budget was getting ready to clear $200 million and the director selected to do the movie is a no-name with only some music videos (albeit good ones) under his belt. Even though Jackson’s name was attached to this, I don’t really blame the studios. For that kind of money and level of production, I would demand that Jackson take on the project or step in to be co-director or something. Banking $30 million on a first time, OK…banking $200 million on a first timer? Ouch.

Although Sin City was Frank Miller’s first movie and look at how huge of a success that was… hmmm

I bet they’ll re-secure funding or get Fox and Universal back into the deal at some point. Fans and Microsoft/Bungie have wanted this movie for a while now, and there is a great story platform to build on if they want it.
