I'm sure this has already been asked somewhere but..

I have RB 1 for Wii. Can I buy GH games or GHWT games and use the RB 1 equipment? I'd really like to get the GH Van Halen in December for my husband.

This is a good question, which even I am asking my self due to that I have the full band for guitar hero world tour which did cost alot but atm I don't have that sort of money to buy rock band full band, which I want to get and on guitar hero world tour it is compatable with rock band drums with only four drums on the highway. So I'm wondering if you can use GHWT set on rock band?

After reading this entire thread i see alot of "yes the rock band 1 guitar will work with guitar hero world tour". But my question is, will the SOLO BUTTONS on the rock band guitars fuction at all on guitar hero world tour? Do they still have the same effect, are the rendered useless, or do they fuction like the normal buttons?

@Retrop The GHWT should activate Star Power/Overdrive by tilting it but a lot of times that tilt sensor has issues and quits working. When that happens you have to use they Back button to activate it. You might try searching around the forums on Scorehero.com and see if anyone else reports the exact same issue because those guys over there regularly take apart their peripherals and fix them. They are really helpful about posting instructions for how they fixed their issues.

i have read as many as i could on thhe board but i am still unsure of the answer to my question that lead me here in the first place.

i have world tour and legends of rock on the wii as me and partner realised after having friends over with their guitar you actully open more locked songs by playing together, so we bought another guitar

so my question is if i was to buy rockband as the stand alone game can i use my guitar hero guitars or not as i was looking at purchasing the guitar hero drums as well and the microphone as well

I'd recommend RB -- I know some might disagree, but I really break the two down into the following groups:

Guitar Hero: About the simulation and accuracy of playing -- challenging but rewarding if you get good. Technically more advanced instrument simulation.

Rock Band: Focused more on the "fun" aspects of playing. A "no fail" mode good for older people and kids.

I picked up Rock Band and really enjoy it, I do have friends that love Guitar Hero to death -- but in fairness, they are pretty hard core and either play instruments in real life and wanted the challenge, or enjoyed playing the same songs over and over until they got Perfect scores...

By what I read here, below is the final result:

FOR PS2

GHWT: Only the Guitar is compatible with RB1 and RB2;
RB1: All kit is compatible with GHWT and RB2 (sure);
RB2: All kit is compatible with GHWT and RB1 (sure).

uff! It's right?

Thank you Tyler! We just bought RB1 set (with the guitar, drums, and mic) for PS2 and wondered about whether we could just buy the GHWT game and use the instruments for GHWT. We also were trying to save a bunch of money. You have helped a lot. Thanks again.

I have RB1 for PS2. I wanted to buy GHWT and use all the RB1 instruments but wasn't sure of the capatibility. Some people said yes, like on here, and some people said no like the Gamestop and Best Buy people. Let me set the record straight by saying that the RB1 instruments ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT work with GHWT. No issues at all. Saved me a bunch of money only having to buy the game. Thank you on here who helped out by telling the truth and curse those at the retailers who were just trying to sell something I didn't need.

Tyrone,

I don't think the instruments will work -- the only reason I say that is wired instruments on PS3 are USB and wireless are Bluetooth... neither of which I think the PS2 had. So if you want GHWT on the PS3, I think you have to rebuy everything :(

Someone please correct me if wrong -- but I just don't know how those PS2 instruments are going to communicate with the PS3 to even work.

I have read all the post and I still have a question. My PS2 finally gave out on me (we had a very long run) and I'm thinking about upgrading to a PS3. I have GHWT for the PS2 and my question is will the instruments work with the PS3? I can buy the PS3 version of the game no problem, I just don't want to be buying more instruments. Also, if it does work, can I buy RB1 or 2 and have those work? I've been searching for a solid answer but can't find one.

Thanks is advance

To cam and steven.... the WII Rockband and Guitar Hero World Tour instruments are not compatible at all. Steven you should return whatever you had bought to Game Stop because they might not have lied to you, but might have not known. PS2 instruments work except the drums, PS3 all instruments are compatible. Any other questions just read all the post in this category, they all have good info and have discussed all this prior to this. Thank you and have a great day
