yes i need help too…
it doesnt work for fingerings, and ive heard that you can use it to do whammys, but how are you supposed use it when your hand is busy on the buttons??
I was playing with it and it appears you have to use both hands on the neck. 1 hand on the buttons as normal and one on the slider. You have to push the same color for a normal hit. The slider basically strums it (from what I can tell). If you’re on a long note that you’re holding down, you can (while holding the note with the usual hand) slide up and down the slider with your other hand and it’ll wah. I don’t know about using it and the wammy at the same time (same deal, how many hands am I supposed to have?). I’m assuming it means slide the slider during a long note and then switch to the wammy (or vice-versa)? I still feel as though I don’t have the complete picture.
I’ve had a problem with the neck slider on both types of guitar controller. The original which came with the World Tour game package worked at first and then packed in. This had the paint on the slider and worked both for “tapping” and for “slide guiitar” and the WAH effect on long notes.
I’ve since had two replacements, neither of which have the paint on the neck, and neither of which actually work. All other functions of the controller work just fine. I’ve looked in game to see if there’s an option to enable / disable the neck slider, but my ppor old myopic eyes just can’t seem to find anything.
Just put in for a third replacement which I hope Activision will check before sending it. If not they’ll runout of guitars and I’ll have a house-full, since they’ve not asked for any of the guitars to be sent back yet.
I’ll keep you posted when there’s furhter developments.

THE ANSWER
I have got a new version (warranty rules) and it works !
Different neck slider, not the one above in the picture, there is no more paint on the neck slider.
They had some problems with the sensivity and paint on the pad.
