Grandmother’s Windows XP Desktop

Brian Fernandes sends in a fantastic story from CollegeHumor.com’s Jeff Rosenburg’s page. It looks like Jeff had to go see his grandma recently for a little family trip and happened to hop on her computer and grab a screenshot… the result, is what you see above.

Seriously… click it.

For anyone that has EVER had to do trouleshooting for folks back in the Windows 3.1/95 days, do you remember desktops that looked like this? People that bought every piece of software in the 0.99 cents bin at CompUSA and installed it? People that didn’t understand why their “memories are full.. they boosted it with Stacker 3.0/AOL/etc.” and you couldn’t figure out how to explain to them, what they did, was just murder their computer?

You have the people that had 9 copies of the Internet Explorer shortcut on their desktop, because they thought *that* was bookmarking?

The people that had every piece of trial service software installed, TSRs running AND all of it expired? Like 3 versions of Norton, McAfee, AOL, and inevitably multiple dial-up services to boot?

This photo above brought that all back… all at the same time. It made me cry and diarrhea myself…

NOTE: I was looking for a picture appropriate to post for “diarrhea myself”… and so I was scanning Google Images, and now I want to freaking throw up. So here’s this instead:
