1up has a story up speculating what could be improved in GTA4 with the first trailer (for the XBox 360 version?) scheduled for release this Thursday (3/29/07).
I think the only thing people should be concerned with is if the franchise will add full multiplayer (versus AND co-op… almost co-op more importantly). The reason I think this is the key is because it’s what everyone has been wanting from day one, and I don’t think anyone will be concerned with the graphics or gameplay. Rockstar’s checklist of games is long enough and good enough that I sincerely doubt I would have to worry about fun or gameplay in a GTA title.
For those of you that played Crackdown, the multiplayer co-op was one of the sweetest features there. Not because you could destroy a city in co-op with a friend, but because you could actually PLAY the game in co-op. This was one of the most limiting issues with Saints Row, another sandbox game for the 360. There was “multiplayer” but only in the form of lame death match. But the game itself was so lush and the story line engrossing that the idea of replaying that with a friend in the passenger seat of your car would have been absolutely fantastic. Let’s hope Saints Row 2 adds it.
Update #1: Well the trailer is out and the dirt seems to be that it’s more of the same. Single player only, huge city (New York it looked like), fairly nice graphics and huge landscapes. I guess if the model the world insanely well (lots of physical objects) then I won’t mind so much if there is no multiplayer. Smashing through buildings and windows will be fun enough ![]()
