Update #1: I notice that a lot of folks are visiting this page, especially from the GCalSync Google Group, and wanted to let you guys know that Google has added official Google Calendar/BlackBerry Calendar syncing support by way of their Sync mobile application for BlackBerry. You can read more about it here.
Ok so I just got a BlackBerry Pearl and I’ve been trying to get GCalSync working on it for a few hours. Part of the problem is that the Pearl is brand new to me and the other part is that I don’t understand typical wireless-internet-phone-internet requirements. Anyway I finally got it working thanks to this post that clarified the steps you need to get it to work for T-Mobile:
- Install GCalSync from your BlackBerry’s browser by visiting: http://wap.gcalsync.com/
- On the BlackBerry, go to Options > Security Options > TLS > TLS Default and set it from Proxy to Handheld
- Still on the BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > TCP > APN and set it to wap.voicestream.com with no Username or Password set (Reference)
- Reboot the Phone
- Load GCalSync, enter your Username and Password
- Go into GCalSync Options and adjust the timezone offset if necessary (NOTE: Even though the settings say use GCal’s timezone setting, version 1.1 of GCalSync seems to totally ignore it, you might need to play around a few times.)
- Save and Exit
- Reboot the Phone
- Load GCalSync and do a Full Sync
And there you have it, it should be all done.
Update #1: Even though some of the Tests might fail for you, the synchronization will still likely work. For example, Test #2 fails for me with an exception, but synchronization still works.
Update #2: Ok GCalSync is no where near being ready for prime time. The preferences are lost often (so you set Timezone offsets let’s say, and then update your cal, then go back to settings and the info is lost .Then you try again, and it’s back. In the mean time, you’ve created like 3x duplicates of everything on your phone). Also some of the preferences don’t seem to work. Overall I’d said wait for 1.25 which I think is the next release currently in beta. I also have a problem with the fact that you can’t set it up to resync every X minutes or something.

Stephen,
That’s great to hear. I actually ran into massive problems with both GCalSync and Calendar Sync when trying to do bi-directional syncing, it was constantly screwing up my Google Calendar and creating duplicates on my BB, so I ended up just setting them to do 1-way syncing and that seems to do the trick.
That’s just a heads up incase you run into any problems. I’m not sure why this issue is apparently such a hard one to solve

Actually I am noticing that it is making my calendar sync strange. Like some of the events are a day off there intended time. What a pain!

I never got it working, it was driving me crazy after a while randomly syncing and creating my events at different time-offsets… when I finally gave up, I had 4x copies of every event on every day.
Not to mention that development on it has seemed to completely stop.
If you are using Microsoft Office and have Outlook installed, grab Companion Link and use it to sync the events with the black berry.
But if you want wireless-over-the-air-through-blackberry-syncing, the best luck (which is still minimal) I’ve had is with the CalendarShare from Saraiya and it still doesn’t even work that well:

I really thought Google would have gotten behind the BlackBerry or RIM would have for business users… but it’s such a sterile landscape out there for BB + GCal
