If you are on the fence about the Nintendo Wii and want to know more about it, GameSpot has put together a really fantastic coverage of it with its OnTheSpot 11/10/06 episode (Scroll down to see it).
This is about an hour and a half episode where the editorial team (about 6 people) get a Wii, open the box, read everything, plug it in and play every single game with the Wii. It’s exactly the same experience you would get if you went to your friends house and watched him open and hook the box up. You get to see all the setup and configuration steps even a hickup they had when too many controllers were synced and what happens when the batteries die in a controller.
They setup a Mii character and played all the Wii Sports (Boxing and Bowling were favorites), played Excite Truck, Madden and of course Zelda. Zelda really does look to be an awesomely fun game… as far as style and presentation… sort of think Zelda meets Fable, that seems to be what it looks like. It’s a very interactive work, lots of folks to talk to and instead of starting off as a game, it seems to start off in Link’s life in his town, doing day to day things (a smart way to have you learn the Wiimote).
I would say that this video alone was enough to put me over the top to find one on launch day along with Zelda and buy it. If you are on the fence, absolutely check it out.
