Did anyone have ANY idea that eBay was this big and complex? 40k developers and every 2 weeks they make a release that represents essentially 100k lines of code and I can’t stand their goddamn site… where is all this code going?
I did a rant a while back telling why I couldn’t stand the site… there are things during the auction-creation process that are so unintuitive it’s painful, the pages are insanely cluttered to the point that I could never hope to tell my mom how to use this site and while the first part of the wizard *requires* JavaScript, none of the rest of the wizard uses any JavaScript to automate any of the entry or error checking. It’s like one programmer tried to make things better, and then the rest of the site was all rolled out in 1992 and has been the same ever since.
I’ve never noticed a change in the searching, buying or posting of an auction… so someone please clarify where this code, every 2 weeks, is going. Especially when you consider 100k lines of code is on par with some entire enterprise systems on their own… just ridiculous.
