Dell laptops are the best, i just got a inspiron 1420, very happy with it.

Too bad i had to purchase the Vista version. The one at http://www.dell.com/open has the warranty way more expensive, and it’s the same hardware. :(

The warranty is like the most important factor for me. I usually go for 3 years.

i sometimes wonder if Dell really wants to sell em… :/

I’m curious what the next year will look like, Lenovo *finally* has their SUSE-based machines up for sale (which included a T61 build option) and I think I heard towards the end of last year Dell expanded their Ubuntu-based lineup to include 1 XPS machine and a nice laptop or something… that’s pretty cool, if for no other reason than to have *Something* challenging Vista.

I think the next version of Windows might be a blow-out though… as much crap as I give Microsoft, they aren’t stupid, and the Vista fiasco was *so* embaressing both publicly and financially that I think they know Windows 7 has to be a hands down mind-blower… hell, they are slating it for 2H09 release, that’s not Windows 7, it’s more like Vista Super-Service-Pack 2.

It’s nice to know they will be replacing/retiring Vista before businesses are even done rolling it out…. they aren’t going to be happy about that one.

Now that Bill has retired, i don’t think windows will ever be the same.

it’s like Apple without Steve Jobs….

Both of them are the ones that give the biggest publicity to their companies (like celebrities)

i for one don’t expect windows to recover. Windows XP was their best product (and still is).

windows XP has so much market share, that the only way it can go right now is down.

Linux and Mac marketshare can only go UP, and that means more free/commercial programs running on both.

    The market is changing drastically.
