For the folks that have used nLite with Windows XP and love it, stop right there… vLite is for Vista and works just as awesome.

For folks that have no idea what nLite or vLite are, they are these badass programs written by Dino Nuhagic that are used to take the install files for Windows XP or Vista, and then walk you through an interface allowing you to customize the components you want and don’t want, pre-integrate any hotfixes or drivers you want and then master your own Windows install CD with it.

It’s totally bad ass.

You ever installed Windows XP on a machine with SATA disk controllers? Why not master your own install CD with the SATA drivers pre-integrated into the install… nLite does that.

You ever wanted to install Windows Vista but rip out Media Player, MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer and useless media to trim it’s size down to half? vLite does that.

What I love most about these apps is how easy they are to use, they literally walk you through, like one long wizard, the creation of your own customized install CD even if that means integrating a service pack… it will do that for you.

If you love tweaking and hacking, nLite and vLite are definitely worth a look.
