Burn… BioShock is not perfect after all. It looks like the “Widescreen” setting for the game simply takes the 4:3 screen, scales it, and crops the top and bottom:
2K-you-suck, party of 1?
Update #1: I was wrong looks like… Chris Hunkele just sent in that there is a fix for the POV issue for BioShock floating around the forums. Download Here.

Why are you being so bitter about this. They’ll probably fix it in an update. You probably just have a PS3 and are jealous that this game is not coming to the PS3, so you harp on the publisher for a bug, that will probably be fixed.

I’m bitter because it’s not likely to get fixed. When I played the demo on the 360 the game runs at about 30fps and in some parts more sluggish, if it’s rendering a 4:3 scene and scaling it (cheap operation relatively speaking) and still chugging along, rendering out a true 16:9 scene with that additional information could really impact the framerate in busy scenes.
I’m also of the mindset that it’s not like they didn’t *know* they were doing this, and did it for a reason. Which likely means they tried to render wide screen and found that the XBox was hitting it’s ceiling and couldn’t, so they simulated it.
I’m not sure what happens on the PC though or if there will be a change there… and god only knows what will happen with the PS3 version of it given the issues some devs have had porting Unreal 3 based games to the PS3.
That being said, I didn’t think I sounded that bitter… I’ll still probably buy it and protest silently to my wife

I read that the PC “widescreen” does in fact do the same thing.
