Laurence Hartje, staying on-top of the death of HD-DVD, sent in news that Best Buy has taken the official stance of recommending Blu-ray to customers over HD-DVD when asked about which HD format to support.

We already covered all the major studios (except Universal) moving over to Blu-ray, and Netflix announcing Blu-ray only support (Blockbuster announced a long time ago they were going Blu-ray only in-store) and now this… well R.I.P. HD-DVD, I know there were rumblings of Microsoft/Toshiba trying to keep HD-DVD alive as a data-medium, but why the hell would people do that over just keeping the same disk format across data and video?

Me thinks Blu-ray done-did-it.
