VE3D has put up an awesome like 10-minute Call of Duty 4 gameplay movie, and I have to say if you think you are interested or are interesting in the game, you have to check it out.

What I’m liking about COD4 after seeing the movie is the combination of intense realism by way of the weapons, sounds, locations, abilities is also the combination of fun gameplay mechanics… not loosing sight of the fact that this is a game.

Things like, when you die (say from a grenade) you respawn at checkpoints that are never more than a few minutes of gameplay behind where you died. So there isn’t a lot of backtracking and you just jump right back into the action.

Also it uses similar damage system to Gears of War where you cannot take a lot of consecutive damage, but if you take cover you recover to full health. This is my favorite health system I’ve ever experienced in a game because it doesn’t detract from the gameplay and punish you for playing. There are games like Medal of Honor: Airborn that attempted to make a hybrid system where you can take enough damage to loose a segment of your health bar, and need a med pack to recover it. I just think that’s stupid.

The only Medal of Honor game I’ve ever liked was Frontline for the PS2.
