You could probably say the first time Apple ever released the “I’m a Mac” ads, they were on the offensive against Microsoft, beginning a war on perception of which operating system and computing platform was superior.
Microsoft didn’t reply for years, but after giving Mac all the fodder they could ever want with the abortion that was Vista, they decided to “hit back” at Apple with completely unrelated “ads” staring Jerry Seinfeld, proving to Apple and the world that… their advertising agency wasn’t sure what to do with the huge budget they were given.
Apple has decided to up the ante a bit with two new ads, moving to a new format of “I’m a Mac” ads, more specifically, turning the word “Vista” into a synonym for “bastard-joke-child”.

Overall thought both were entertaining and did a decent subliminal job of selling me on how bad Microsoft is. As far as advertising goes, this is a lot like Pepsi coming out and saying Coke causes cancer… and Coke retaliates by running a series of ads that cost $110 million each showing butterflies molt.
Butterflies are pretty and all, but Coke still causes cancer.
