For all the business travelers out there, your life just got a little less sucky — assuming you use American Airlines for your domestic flights.
American Airlines has been trialing the in-flight WiFi service for 6-months on a few select flights and has decided to OK the rollout to it’s entire fleet. The price for the service breaks down to:
- $9.95 – For flights shorter than 3hrs
- $12.95 – For flights longer than 3hrs
Overall, a pretty reasonable service if you consider a cheese plate runs you about $5 right now anyway. One of the most prominently-voiced concerns over such a service (and stupidest) has been over people viewing pornography or other inappropriate material while flying… like it’s impossible to put porn on your USB drive, hard drive, DVD or any other media that would have allowed you to watch it anyway in the first place.

Southwest Airlines is current testing WiFi access as well that is serviced through a company called Row 44. If you happen to be on a plane in the Southwest fleet that is offering WiFi, you are able to use it for free during this trial period.
Delta is also mid-trial with their own WiFi plans for travelers as well.
It’s nice to see the travel industry understand that the experience is currently garbage, and if given the choice, some of us might pay for nicer services so it wasn’t such a crappy experience — helping the stigma around plane travel right now.

Totally agree — For international flights and cross-continental flights I’m *really* damn excited for this. Wondering what the bandwidth limitations are going to be and you know you’re gonna get the folks on there that think it’s hilarious to do Hulu and Netflix Stream Instantly
