Ruh-roh… Marc Chung sends in news that Amazon’s huge S3 storage service went down for 3 hours this morning. While it seems like a petty issue, Amazon uses the service to host most of their own content, in addition to entire companies/websites running off of S3 like Twitter and SmugMug.
Looks like things are back up and running again, user complaints so far seem to be along the lines of “Amazon needs to provide better monitoring tools and status updates when stuff like this happens”.
I wonder if a boat anchor caused S3 to go down? After all… boat anchors are the internet’s nemesis… apparently.
